From Fishing Lakes To Otter Oasis is the story of how a simple childhood passion for fishing eventually became the vision that now drives the entire Otter Oasis project.
People often ask me where the idea for Otter Oasis came from.
The truth is, it didn't start with blockchain, NFTs, websites, memberships, or digital participation shares.
It started with fishing.
From Fishing Lakes To Otter Oasis: Where It All Began
I've loved fishing for as long as I can remember. I started fishing when I was around five years old, and from that moment I was hooked. Some of my best childhood memories were spent sitting beside the water, watching the float, waiting for a bite, and simply enjoying being outdoors.
Back then, I didn't care about business plans, websites, or building ecosystems.
I just loved fishing. As I got older, that passion never went away. If anything, it became stronger.
Like many anglers, I often found myself dreaming about owning my own fishing lakes one day. At the time it felt like one of those dreams that would probably never happen.
But the idea never left me.
The Dream Started To Grow From Fishing Lakes To Otter Oasis
Over the years, I spent countless hours fishing different venues, talking to other anglers, and imagining what I would do if I ever had the chance to build something of my own.
At first, the dream was simple.
Own a couple of fishing lakes.
Create somewhere peaceful where people could come and enjoy the sport that I loved so much.
But as the years passed, the vision started to grow.
- What if people could stay overnight?
- What if there were lodges around the lakes?
- What if families could visit, even if they didn't fish?
- What if it became more than just a fishery?
Slowly, the dream evolved from owning fishing lakes into creating a destination.
Discovering A Bigger Vision
As I continued thinking about the future, I realised the project could become something much bigger than fishing alone.
Nature had always been an important part of my life. Wildlife, conservation, the outdoors, and helping people reconnect with nature all became part of the vision.
That was when the idea of Otter Oasis really started to take shape.
Not just a fishery.
Not just a holiday park.
But a place where people could relax, spend time with family, enjoy nature, and create memories.
A place built around wildlife, fishing, outdoor experiences, and community.
The more I thought about it, the more it felt right.
The Funding Problem
Like most big dreams, there was one obvious problem.
Money.
Building a holiday park isn't cheap.
Buying land isn't cheap.
Creating lakes, lodges, habitats, visitor facilities, and attractions requires significant funding.
For a long time, that was where the dream stayed.
A dream.
I knew what I wanted to build, but I had no realistic path to getting there.
At least, that's what I thought at the time.
Discovering Blockchain Technology
In 2020, I started spending more time learning about blockchain technology.
Like most people, I initially became interested through cryptocurrency.
But the more I learned, the more I became interested in the technology itself.
What caught my attention wasn't the speculation.
It was the idea of building communities.
For the first time, I could see a way of creating something that allowed people to follow the journey from the very beginning.
- A way to build supporters before the physical project existed.
- A way to create transparency.
- A way to build a long-term vision with a community behind it.
That was the moment when the pieces started coming together.
Building The Foundations First
One thing I've learned over the years is that big projects need strong foundations. You can't build the roof before you build the foundations.
That's exactly how I see Otter Oasis. The ecosystem comes first. The holiday park comes later.
The Eco Rangers, memberships, participation shares, treasury systems, community building, and long-term planning are all part of creating those foundations.
Some people see the ecosystem and think that's the project.
For me, it's only the beginning. The ecosystem is the vehicle. The holiday park is the destination.
Why I Haven't Given Up
The truth is, there have been plenty of moments where it would have been easier to walk away.
Building anything worthwhile takes time. There are setbacks and challenges. There are days when progress feels slow.
But the vision has never really changed.
- I still see those fishing lakes.
- I still see families staying in lodges.
- I still see people enjoying nature and wildlife.
- I still see Otter Oasis becoming something real.
The path might look different from the one I imagined years ago, but the destination remains the same.
Final Thoughts From Fishing Lakes To Otter Oasis
If you've made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read my story.
Otter Oasis isn't a project that appeared overnight. It's the result of years of dreaming, planning, learning, and refusing to let go of an idea that started beside a fishing lake many years ago.
Whether you're an Eco Ranger, a member, a share holder, or simply someone who has discovered the project for the first time, I'm grateful you're here.
The journey is still at the beginning. There's a lot of work ahead.
But every great project starts with a vision. For me, that vision started with fishing lakes.
Today, it's called Otter Oasis.
